On 2 Dec, the Global BIM Network (the Network) will launch its Roadmap for the Global Built Environment at the First Annual Global BIM Network General Assembly, with the aim to foster more productive and more collaborative global digital construction sector that delivers benefits for people and places.

Panel sessions include:

14:00 UTC – Welcome and Presentation of the Global BIM Network Roadmap The Global BIM Network Roadmap will promote international collaboration to grow public sector capacity in built environment policy and transformation initiatives.

Speakers: Adam Matthews, Chair of the Global BIM Network Steering Committee;  Alanna Gluck, Delivery Lead, Global BIM Network

14:30 UTC – The Costs Benefits of Information Management: A Global Perspective In this session, panellists will discuss the strategic development of cost-benefit methodologies that demonstrate the benefits of BIM implementation in public sector funded projects.

Speakers: Milena Feustel, Co-chair, EU BIM Task Group; Claudia Suaznabar, Lead Specialist, Inter-American Development Bank. Moderator: Ann Marie Duggan, Manager, National BIM Unit, Public Services and Procurement Canada. 

15:00 UTC – From Policy to Implementation: Procurement Practices Around the World In this session, panellists will provide presentations about their journey from developing a national or subnational strategy at the policy level to deliver better infrastructure through BIM and information management, through to the practical steps to implementing BIM through public procurement.

Speakers: Luke Belfield, Acting Victorian Chief Engineer, Australia; Sebastián Manriquez, Subdirector, Planbim CORFO, Chile. Moderator: Roger Grant, Executive Director, Building Information Management at the National Institute of Building Sciences, USA.

15:30 UTC – Government and Industry: Working Together to Drive Benefits for People and Places In this session, panellists will provide an overview of developing their national strategy to deliver better infrastructure through BIM and information management.

Speaker: Fergus Harradence, Deputy Director, Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, UK. Speaker: Daniel Gómez, Deputy Director at the National Planning Department, Colombia. Moderator: Valentina Sarmiento Buitrago, Head of the Productivity Team, Ministry of Housing, City and Territory, Colombia.

16:00 UTC – Closing Remarks

Speakers: Adam Matthews, Chair of the Global BIM Network Steering Committee and Nigel Muñoz Oro, Regional Project Management Advisor, Latin America and the Caribbean, UNOPS.

During the event, the Global BIM Network will launch its Roadmap promoting public sector leadership efforts to collaborate across borders and sectors on the critical opportunity of digitalisation in response to the pandemic and to drive inclusive growth through capacity building and knowledge transfer. This programme, delivered collectively by the Network, will amplify current bilateral and regional efforts to harmonise digital technical standards and promote the sharing of best practice for infrastructure policy, investment and procurement.
