DLUHC – Building Safety Consultations

The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities has published consultations on:

This consultation seeks views on policy proposals for legislation to create the building control procedures for higher-risk buildings, as well as wider changes to improve the building control system overall.

In addition, the Government aims to ensure building regulations are fit for purpose across the built environment and, where appropriate, propose to apply the new approaches in the Building Safety Act 2022 to all building work, not just those in scope of the new regulatory regime for high-rise residential buildings.

This consultation relates to the requirement to register the building, the requirement to apply for a building assessment certificate, accountable persons, the introduction of a safety case approach to managing fire and structural safety during occupation, duties to engage residents, the ongoing management of a digital golden thread of information throughout the building lifecycle and the creation of a mandatory occurrence reporting framework,

Both consultations can also be found here

The consultations will be open until 12 October 2022.
