Build UK Contractual Terms Recommendations Statement

The CLC welcomes the publication by Build UK of its Contract Terms Recommendations. The Construction Sector Deal set the objective of increasing collaboration within the industry and improving the operation of supply chains to deliver better performance. To underpin this, the industry needs to adopt better contractual practices which ensure the fair treatment of firms throughout the supply chain, enable effective management of payments and ensure risks are managed by the organisations best placed to do so.

Construction Leadership Council Chairman Andy Mitchell said:

“The Construction Leadership Council welcomes the publication of the BuildUK Contract Terms Recommendations. If we are to improve industry performance and strengthen supply chains, we need fairer contract terms and a better approach to apportioning risk, based on who is best placed to manage this. These recommendations are a first step towards fairer and more responsible contractual practices, and the CLC will be encouraging the industry to adopt them”.

The CLC will work closely with Government, Build UK and other stakeholders to encourage the adoption of these recommendations.
