UK government invest in a challenge to deliver an innovative R&D programme

Last week, UKRI announced the winners of an £18m R&D competition which is designed to transform the construction industry through better use of digital technology. The R&D competition, which forms part of the £170m Transforming Construction Programme and the Construction Sector Deal will support a range of projects ranging from greater use of 3D printing of concrete, to on-site and off-site robotic assistance with manufacture and assembly and digital design to improve sustainability.

The full UKRI news story can be found here and further details on the projects being funded can be downloaded here.

This R&D competition is the first in a series that will run over the course of the year. The next competition will focus on projects focussed on demonstrations and will be launched later this year. If you want to know more about those upcoming competitions, you can sign up your details here.

The CLC will issue a more detailed update on the progress of the Transforming Construction programme (covering the £72m Core Innovation Hub, as well as the  £32m Active Building Centre) later this month.
