“On Monday, the Government published its Industrial Strategy White Paper, and I’m delighted to say that Construction was included within the first wave of sector deals. The Construction Sector Deal two page overview is here.
Securing this deal is a reflection of how well the sector has come together over the last year – and spoken with one voice about where it wants to go, and what it needs to do to get there. This deal is also a reflection of the vital role we have to play in delivering the UK’s infrastructure and housing ambitions – and of Government’s commitment to working with us to deliver on them.
The deal also represents a golden opportunity to reap economic gains from improved productivity and constructing assets more efficiently, creating high-skilled, well-paid jobs in all parts of the UK and driving up exports to the global infrastructure market.
These are exciting times for Construction – and I look forward to working with colleagues in Government and across the sector to make this deal a reality over the coming weeks and months”.
