CLC Mental Health Project
Introduction
- The suicide rate in UK construction is 4 times the national average.
- We recognise there is some great work currently taking place across the construction sector in the mental health space.
- However, as an industry- we need to do considerably more to help create an environment for people to experience good mental health and create systemic change.
- This is not about logos, branding or politics. We need your help and support.
What is the aim?
- To create an environment that fosters better mental health for the people that work in the UK construction industry.
Who is Involved?
- The only way that we will be able to improve mental health in UK construction, is if the industry moves together collectively, and works in partnership
- This isn’t about logos, individual company preferences, or politics, it is about saving peoples’ lives.

How will we do this?
- Stage 1 – Identify the key root causes for poor mental health in construction.
- Stage 2 – Consult with key industry stakeholders on what can be done to eliminate or reduce the identified root causes.
- Stage 3 – With the consultation results, agree an action plan with industry leaders and key stakeholders what we can do to address the root causes.
- Stage 4 – Implement the agreed actions.
