CLC Mental Health Project

Introduction

  • The suicide rate in UK construction is 4 times the national average.
  • We recognise there is some great work currently taking place across the construction sector in the mental health space.
  • However, as an industry- we need to do considerably more to help create an environment for people to experience good mental health and create systemic change.
  • This is not about logos, branding or politics. We need your help and support.

What is the aim?

  • To create an environment that fosters better mental health for the people that work in the UK construction industry.

Who is Involved?

  • The only way that we will be able to improve mental health in UK construction, is if the industry moves together collectively, and works in partnership
  • This isn’t about logos, individual company preferences, or politics, it is about saving peoples’ lives.

Industry Consultation Groups

How will we do this?

  • Stage 1 – Identify the key root causes for poor mental health in construction.
  • Stage 2 – Consult with key industry stakeholders on what can be done to eliminate or reduce the identified root causes.
  • Stage 3 – With the consultation results, agree an action plan with industry leaders and key stakeholders what we can do to address the root causes.
  • Stage 4 – Implement the agreed actions.
