Initiatives
Information Management Initiative
Led by the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) and supported by nima, the Information Management Initiative (IMI) aims to help organisations to progressively transform their information and data management practices across the built and natural environment.
The CLC is building upon some 15 years of experience in making building information modelling ‘business as usual’ across large swathes of the UK construction sector – the UK is also influential in developing international standards and embedding industry best practice. Through the Information Management Initiative, the CLC wants to build sector-transforming capabilities in applying emerging digital technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), the internet of things (IoT) and ‘digital twins’.

CLC Construct AI
The Construction Leadership Council is facilitating an industry led initiative ‘Construct AI’ in support of the governments ambition to increase AI adoption across the sector.
As part of Construct AI various partners are coming together to develop the foundation for an ‘AI Lab’ to allow organisations in the sector to explore AI use cases collaboratively in a safe, secure non-commercial environment.
Through a series of industry work shops, we have identified the following key outcomes that industry seeks to support through the Construct AI Initiative, with an overall objective of accelerating AI adoption:
- Environmental Sustainability – Use of AI across the sector to enable acceleration of Net Zero objectives
- Productivity – Harness the power of AI to improve productivity and manage capacity more effectively
- People – Ensure the sector remains attractive, whilst ensuring existing people are upskilled and supported through change
- Risk & Uncertainty – Leverage AI to help the sector manage risk more effectively and deal with uncertainty in a changing world
- Guard Rails – Support the development of appropriate guardrails for AI use, including ethical and socio-technical concerns
- Collaboration – Foster acceleration of AI adoption through collaboration, bringing problem owner together with tech SME’s
Our workshops identified the following key enablers, outlining what industry believe is achievable through the Construct AI initiative:
