Construct Zero Industry Competition Awards

Business leaders last week attended the first annual progress review of the Construction Leadership Council’s (CLC) Co2nstruct Zero Performance Dashboard, which set out the evidence of how UK construction is playing a leading role in cutting carbon.

Presenting the awards, CLC Co-chair, Richard Robinson – CEO Atkins UK and Europe, said:

“Achieving Net Zero is a huge challenge, but our 2022 Construct Zero Award winners remind us that we all have a role to play if we’re going to be successful. It was very encouraging to see such a calibre of award submissions and clear progress being made across all parts of our sector. Well done to all those who took part”

The CLC launched its CO2nstruct Zero programme at COP26 last year, with associated measures to track carbon reduction activities, and challenge the industry to improve in 9 key areas covering transport, buildings and construction activity.

At the event, the CO2nstruct Zero programme was pleased to celebrate the work of its 200+ supporting Business Champions and Partners through the following  four awards.

Business Champion 2022

Keltbray was awarded the Business Champion of 2022, demonstrating the most measurable progress in the Net Zero space, against the nine priorities, across the past 12 months, together with extensive dissemination and shared learning

Construct Zero Partner 2022

The Electrical Contractors’ Association was awarded the Business Partner of 2022, exemplifying the values and ethos of Construct Zero through their engagement and influence. They demonstrated extensive engagement in this space and reaching out to new audiences, in a topic that is not routine for their area of work.

Construct Zero SME 2022

ZED PODS was awarded the SME of 2022, demonstrated the most progress as one of our Construct Zero SMEs, in the NZ space across the past 12 months. They also demonstrated

impressive evidence on the use of BIM software and reduction in carbon.

CZ Young Person 2022

Lara Young (Group Climate Change Director, Costain Group) was awarded the Young Person of 2022. This award recognised a young person (aged 16-35) who’s made the greatest impact within the industry, in the Net Zero space in the last 12 months, going above and beyond expectations to make an impact

Lara demonstrated considerable engagement across the sector and beyond her current company in playing a key role to support the sector’s broader transition to Net Zero. .
