Chris joined the family firm in 1986 as an apprentice joiner soon progressing to the site manager role and then to Technical, Administrative and Planning Manager and then to his current position as joint managing director in 2001. The firm was started 120 years ago by Chris’ grandfather and his brother as a firm of ‘jobbing’ builders. Carr & Carr now deliver new home development sites ranging from 4 units up to 150 units on both greenfield and brownfield sites throughout North Lincolnshire. They have found their niche building high quality energy efficient homes in sought after areas.
Chris is also the MD of Carr Development Consultancy working with both the public and private sector to offer advice and guidance on housing and planning & regeneration. He also finds time to mentor micro builders and help them find suitable land, advice with planning, access to finance, supply chain engagement and sales. His aim is to get one trades person a year to become a micro/SME housing developer.
Chris started attending Federation of Master Builders branch meetings over 25 years ago and has progressed from Grimsby branch secretary, to regional president and In 2018 he became a Director of the Federation of Master Builders.
Chris is also holds active positions on the FMB Home Builders Group; Council Member of the NHBC; CITB England Nation Council Member; Director of the UK Business Council for Sustainable Development; advisor on housing to the Humber & Lincolnshire LEP’s; Chairman of the North East Lincolnshire Housing and Development Board.
